KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a four-year-old girl who was fatally struck by a vehicle used in the party’s election campaigning in Rautahat.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, RSP General Secretary Kavindra Burlakoti said the incident had left the party deeply shocked and grief-stricken.

Alpha Khatun, daughter of Sagir Mohammad, a resident of the same municipality, died after being hit by a vehicle used by RSP’s candidate for Rautahat-2, Sekh Sagir, on Thursday.

Stating that the party has taken the incident with the utmost seriousness, the RSP pledged its full cooperation with the local administration to ensure an objective investigation. “No effort would be spared to ensure justice for the victim’s family by completing all legal procedures,” it added.

The RSP also said that initiatives were underway to provide the affected family with the necessary relief and support.

“To prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future, we have issued instructions to party members, candidates, and drivers to exercise heightened caution in the operation of vehicles used during election campaigns,” the party added in the statement.
