MoFA advises Nepalis not to travel to Iran

KATHMANDU: The government has advised Nepali citizens to postpone any plans to travel to Iran amid unfolding developments in the country.

Issuing a travel advisory on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advised Nepali nationals currently residing or working in Iran to leave the country at the earliest possible opportunity using any available means.

The ministry has also requested Nepali citizens in Iran to keep their travel documents, including passports and identity cards, readily available to facilitate an emergency exit if required.

It has urged Nepalis in Iran to remain in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha, which looks after consular affairs related to Iran.

Earlier on January 13, the ministry advised Nepalis living and working in Iran to follow the security advisory of the competent authorities of Iran, stay indoors, remain alert, and exercise caution.
