KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has cautioned its candidate for the Banke-3 seat of the House of Representatives, Khagendra Sunar, to exercise restraint.

Issuing a statement on Friday, the party said Sunar, who had made controversial remarks about cows before he joined the RSP, has been advised to exercise greater restraint, maturity, and public decorum in his future statements and behavior.

“The party has cautioned candidate Sunar and drawn his attention to maintaining greater restraint, maturity, and public decorum in his statements and conduct going forward. The party is confident that his intention was not to insult any religion, culture, or national symbol,” reads the statement issued by General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti.

The party added in the statement that Sunar has issued a full apology for the confusion that his remarks have caused in society and for any offense to religious and cultural sentiments.

“RSP will continue to uphold the rule of law, social justice, and religious and social harmony, remaining committed to building an inclusive society for all,” Burlakoti added in the statement.
