JSP Nepal expels former minister Yadav, seven others

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has expelled eight leaders, including former minister Pradeep Yadav, from the party.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the party said the action was taken after they filed candidacies against the party’s official candidates for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Yadav, who had served as Minister for Water Supply in the KP Sharma Oli–led government after joining the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) led by Ashok Rai, had returned to JSP Nepal only recently.

After failing to secure a party ticket from JSP Nepal, Yadav joined the CPN-UML and filed his candidacy from Parsa–1.

JSP Nepal Patron Mahantha Thakur and Chairperson Upendra Yadav said in the statement that the leaders were expelled with immediate effect for acting against party policies and decisions and engaging in activities contrary to the party’s interests, discipline, and statute.

Along with former minister Yadav, JSP Nepal has expelled Chandan Kumar Singh and Atmaram Sah for filing candidacies for Bara-2; Kamrullah Ansari for Bara-1; Udayakant Mishra from Sarlahi-4; and Hari Narayan Yadav from Mahottari-3.

Other leaders expelled from the party include Nabal Kishor Sah of Bara and Dr Shivji Yadav of Mahottari.
