KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has instructed party leaders and cadres, who have filed rebel candidacies, to withdraw or deactivate their nominations.

Speaking at a press conference at the central party office in Sanepa on Tuesday, Spokesperson and Coordinator of the Central Publicity and Communications Committee, Devaraj Chalise, said party leaders and cadres have been directed to render their nominations inactive and support the party’s official candidates.

“There may have been shortcomings in candidate selection due to time constraints. The party leadership will correct these shortcomings in the coming days,” Chalise said. “That is why we request rebel candidates to deactivate their nominations.”

Chalise also said the party has already party units across the country to form election mobilisation committees at all seven provincial levels and down to the ward level to strengthen election campaigning.
