KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has given recognition to the new leadership of Nepali Congress with Gagan Kumar Thapa as President elected by its 2nd Special General Convention.
A meeting of Election Commissioners held on Friday decided to validate the special general convention and to update the decisions made by it.
The 2nd General Special Convention held in Kathmandu elected a new Central Working Committee under Thapa’s leadership on Wednesday evening. Thapa had formally notified the decisions of the Special General Convention to the Election Commission on Thursday.
The other faction of the party, led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, on Thursday notified the EC about its Central Working Committee’s decision to expel General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Paudel, and Joint Secretary Farmullah Mansoor.
