KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Nepal have formally announced their unification.
The two parties signed a 12-point agreement to make the merger official at LSP Nepal Chairperson Mahantha Thakur’s residence in Hattiban, Lalitpur, on Sunday. Thakur and JSP Nepal Chairperson Upenra Yadav signed the unification agreement.
The two parties had reached an understanding for party unification on December 28.
Under the agreement, the unified party will retain the name JSP Nepal. Thakur will serve as the patron, while Yadav will remain Chairperson.
After signing the unification agreement, JSP Nepal has decided to withdraw nominations of its three candidates for the National Assembly elections from Madhesh Province.
