KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has said that the party was preparing to formalize the agreement reached with Kulman Ghising.
Speaking to journalists in Chitwan on Thursday, a day after Ghising stepped down from the interim government, Lamichhane said RSP had reached an understanding with Ghising when he was still in the government. “Now that he has resigned, we will formalize the understanding reached with him,” he added.
Ghising submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Wednesday evening. A two-time managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Ghising held the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Urban Development in the interim government.
RSP reached an understanding for party unification with Ujyalo Nepal Party – Ghising’s political vehicle – on December 29.
RSP has agreed to make Ghising one of its vice presidents. The party has already decided to amend its statute to create a new post of vice president.
Ghising has so far been maintaining that he is not affiliated with any political party.
