Oli submits written statement to judicial inquiry commission KP Sharma Oli

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has submitted a written statement to a judicial inquiry commission formed to probe the incidents of September 8 and 9.

Oli, who is also the chairperson of the CPN-UML, handed over his statement to a commission team that had reached his residence to serve a notice asking him to appear before the panel to record his statement.

Former Nepal Police AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma, who is also the commission’s spokesperson, confirmed that Oli’s statement has been received. “The commission will now take necessary decisions regarding his travel restrictions,” Sharma said.

He added that Oli submitted his written statement to the team that had gone to deliver the notice.

Earlier on Sunday, a team from the National Human Rights Commission also recorded a statement from Oli.

Previously, Oli had maintained that he would not give a statement to the inquiry commission. He had said he would not go to Singha Durbar to record a statement, but would serve tea to the commission team if they came to his residence.
