KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 10.29 points to close at 2,610.63 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
The benchmark index witnessed a sharp decline in early trading. Although it made several recovery attempts during the session, Nepse eventually closed 0.39% lower.
Share prices of 171 scrips declined, while 79 advanced and nine remained unchanged on Sunday. SY Panel led the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 306.58 million traded. Shreenagar Agro Industries Ltd and Bandipur Cablecar & Tourism followed, posting turnovers of Rs 228.8 million and Rs 219.41 million, respectively.
Despite the decline in the index, total turnover improved to Rs 5.01 billion. A total of 10.27 million units were traded on the bourse through 79,702 transactions.
Of the 13 sectoral indices, three posted gains, while the remaining 10 ended the session in the red. Manufacturing & Processing recorded the highest gain of 1.04%, while the Others sub-index registered the biggest loss of 1.69%.
