KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has called for the immediate convening of the National Assembly session.
A delegation led by Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip in the National Assembly, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, met National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal on Sunday and handed over a memorandum calling for the immediate convening of the upper house session.
A meeting of the NC’s parliamentary party held last week concluded that, amid the evolving and adverse political situation in the country—particularly after the unconstitutional dissolution of the House of Representatives—the National Assembly, as the only remaining chamber of the sovereign federal parliament, must convene to raise the voices of the people.
In line with that decision, the party requested the chairperson to press the concerned authorities to convene the session immediately.
National Assembly members Kamala Pant, Kiran Babu Shrestha, Bishnu Sapkota and Padam Pariyar, among others, were present during the meeting.
