HoR elections govt’s primary mandate, says Home Minister

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash has said that the primary mandate of the current government is to hold the House of Representatives elections on March 5.

Speaking at a Karnali Province-level Security Workshop in Surkhet, Aryal said that the government was actively engaged in the necessary groundwork to ensure the polls are held on schedule.

Aryal also said the government was committed to preventing conflict and stabilizing the nation’s current critical situation through a peaceful political environment. “Since there is a mandate to hold elections within six months of the dissolution of Parliament, the process will be completed by strengthening security measures across the country,” he added.

The Home Minister also said Gen Z must be brought into the political mainstream to achieve prosperity, development, and good governance. “The younger generation should not be confined to any specific political party but should be viewed as a shared national asset. The state needs to harness its creativity and talent for national development,” he added.

High-ranking officials, including Nepal Police IGP Dan Bahadur Karki, Armed Police Force IGP Raju Aryal, and Lt Gen Ganesh Kumar Shrestha of the Nepali Army, as well as Chief District Officers and security heads from all ten districts of Karnali Province, are attending the workshop.
