School building being built in Gulmi’s Dhurkot with Indian support

KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for a new school building for Shree Ninyukharka Secondary School, Gulmi, was laid on Tuesday.

Gitanjali Brandon, counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Bhupal Pokharel, Chairperson of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, jointly laid the foundation stone.

The project is a part of the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and is being implemented with financial assistance of Rs 38 million from the Government of India. Dhurkot Rural Municipality will execute the project.

According to a statement issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the new infrastructure will include a two-storey school building with classrooms and related facilities, along with furniture. The project aims to improve access to quality education and strengthen local infrastructure.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson of the rural municipality, members of the school management committee, and other local stakeholders welcomed the support and expressed appreciation for India’s contribution to community development in the area.
