KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing run into a third session, closing 13.88 points lower at 2,581.21 points on Monday.
The benchmark index witnessed a sharp fall right after trading began and failed to recover despite multiple recovery attempts.
Unit prices of 200 scrips declined during the session, while 54 advanced and five remained unchanged. Total turnover dropped to Rs 3.51 billion, with only 65,312 units traded through 9.16 million transactions.
Lumbini Bikas Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 103.08 million worth of shares traded. It was followed by Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd and Manjushree Finance Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 82.62 million and Rs 73.94 million, respectively.
Twelve out of the 13 trading groups posted losses on Monday, with the Trading ( 0.57%) sub-index being the only gainer. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index suffered the biggest loss of 1.26%, followed by the Life Insurance and Investment sub-indices, which fell 1.01% and 0.97%, respectively.
