Lamichhane returns to RSP central office after 261 days

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has returned to the party headquarters for the first time in 261 days.

He was arrested at his home on April 4. Lamichhane had addressed supporters and party cadres one day before his arrest. He was scheduled to address a mass gathering in Chitwan on April 5.

However, he was arrested before he could leave for Chitwan when the Butwal Bench of the Tulsipur High Court ordered him to be sent into judicial custody to face charges related to cooperative fraud and organized crime.

Although Lamichhane was briefly seen in public after coming out of prison during the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9, he did not visit the party office. He later returned to the Nakkhu jail.
