Elections cannot provide a way out: Lingden

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has said that elections held under a constitution that has already failed cannot provide the country with a way out.

Addressing the party’s Central Working Committee meeting, which began in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Lingden said that the election, which the government formed after the “Gen Z movement,” is preparing to conduct under the status quo, would not resolve the national crisis but instead push the country into deeper trouble. He added that the current government must advance its work in line with the sentiments expressed by Gen Z.

Lingden also said that some parties have even changed their names because they had become extremely unpopular among the public.

“At present, the RPP is the only party that people trust. Therefore, our responsibility is not only to win elections but also to prevent the country from slipping into long-term conflict,” he added.

Lingden added that differences within the party can be resolved through the general convention.
