Nepse up 10.43 points; extends winning  streak to fifth session

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its upward momentum for a fifth consecutive trading session on Thursday, adding 10.43 points to close at 2,676.03.

The benchmark initially fell but quickly recovered and continued its momentum throughout the session, closing 0.39% higher on the final trading day of the week.

Unit prices of 131 listed companies posted gains, while 121 declined and six remained unchanged.

Total turnover rose to Rs 6.66 billion, with 14.69 million shares changing hands through 86,170 transactions.

NRN Infrastructure & Development topped the turnover charge with Rs 401.77 million worth of shares traded. Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 163.60 million and Rs 159.72 million, respectively.

Eight sub-indices closed in positive territory on Thursday, while five ended the session in the red. Banking posted the biggest gain of 1.49%, while Finance registered the sharpest decline of 0.38%.
