KATHMANDU: Forty-four political parties have submitted applications for participation in the upcoming National Assembly and House of Representatives (HoR) elections.

According to the Election Commission (EC), nine political parties have submitted applications for the National Assembly election scheduled for January 25. Similarly, 44 parties have registered for the HoR elections to be held on March 5 next year.

As per the election schedule published by the EC, applications for party registration for the elections will have to be filed between November 17 and 26.

EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the election code of conduct has been prepared and uploaded to the Commission’s website for feedback.

The National Assembly elections will elect 18 members to replace 19 whose term expires on March 4. The President will nominate one member on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
