KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rose by 15.7 points to close at 2,566.07 on Tuesday, extending its upward momentum for a second straight session.
Nepse had climbed 9.78 points on Monday.
The benchmark index moved into positive territory immediately after trading opened and maintained its strength throughout the day. Although the index trimmed some gains toward the close, it still ended 0.61% higher.
Unit prices of 207 scrips advanced during the session, while 44 declined and five remained unchanged. Turnover improved to Rs 4.1 billion compared to the previous session.
Sahas Urja led the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 229.16 million traded. Barun Hydropower Company and Mountain Energy followed with turnovers of Rs 156.86 million and Rs 133.17 million, respectively.
All trading groups closed the session in the green. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index recorded the strongest gain of 1.28%. Development Banks and Investment sub-indices were next with gains of 1.25% and 1.19%, respectively.
