Parliament must be reinstated to provide a political way out: Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the dissolved House of Representatives must be reinstated to provide a political way out for the country.

Speaking with a delegation from Press Chautari Nepal at his residence on Sunday, Oli reiterated the demand for reinstatement, arguing that the House had been dissolved unconstitutionally and illegitimately.

He claimed that the current government led by Sushila Karki is unconstitutional and therefore does not have the authority to hold elections. Oli also expressed concern that dissolving parliament in such an unconstitutional way could set a harmful precedent for the country’s political system.

Oli also said the country’s largest and strongest party has never shied away from elections. “We want elections to be held if there is a proper environment. But look—so many weapons are out on the streets, so many prisoners are outside. What right does this government have to conduct elections? It has no right. It is illegitimate, inexperienced,” he said.
