Nepalgunj Marathon announces partnership with Malaysia’s SCORE Marathon

KATHMANDU: Nepalgunj Marathon has announced a partnership with Malaysia’s SCORE Marathon.

According to Chandra Bahadur Gurung, Race Director of the Nepalgunj Marathon, the collaboration aims to foster mutual goodwill and cultural exchange between the two events.

Patricia Tan, founder and CEO of SCORE Sports Management, and TS Thakuri, founder and president of Nepalgunj Marathon, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the partnership.

Thakuri, who also serves as the ambassador for the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) for Nepal, said the initial agreement is for five years and can be extended and revised as needed.

“SCORE Marathon, ranked among Malaysia’s top three races, is a world-class road race, attracting over 40,000 participants,” Thakuri said. “This partnership will give Nepali runners, officials, and volunteers valuable exposure to world-class marathon management and provide opportunities to learn from global best practices.”

As per the agreement, athletes, officials, and volunteers recommended by the Nepalgunj Marathon will receive registration and hospitality privileges for the SCORE Marathon series in Malaysia and Singapore. In return, the SCORE Marathon team will enjoy similar benefits when participating in the Nepalgunj Marathon series, Thakuri added.
