Shekhar for holding general convention before elections

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that the party’s 15th General Convention should be held soon.

“I have long been raising the issue that the 15th General Convention should be completed by mid-December. If it becomes difficult to hold it within that period due to time and circumstances, it must in any case be completed by mid-January,” Koirala said in a gathering of incumbent and former presidents of district committees of Kathmandu.

Koirala emphasized the need to conclude the convention before the next general election so that the party could participate in it with a new and refreshed leadership.

He also said that the NC should move forward in its current state with unity, responsibility, and restraint. “Everyone associated with the party should place the nation, the people, and democracy as their top priorities. Learning from the ups and downs of the past, we must advance with the spirit that ‘unity is strength’,” he said.
