Nepal taking on US in Dubai as WCL-2 campaign resumes

KATHMANDU: Nepal are resuming their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 journey for the 2024–26 cycle with a tri-series with the US and the UAE in Dubai on Sunday. Nepal are taking on the US in the first match of the tri-series at 11:15 am (NST) at the Dubai International Stadium.

The series, the qualification pathway for the 2027 ICC Men’s World Cup, will see Nepal, USA and UAE battle across six ODIs from October 26 to November 5.

The US are second on the eight-team table with 28 points from 20 matches, while Nepal are seventh with 12 points from 16 matches and hosts UAE eighth with six points from 16. Scotland are at the top of the table with 30 points from 24 games.

Canada, the Netherlands, Nepal, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, UAE and the US are playing a total of 144 matches in the WCL 2. The top three at the end of the cycle qualify directly for the World Cup Qualifier, while the next two teams head to the playoffs.

Nepal will play its second match against the UAE on Oct 30. They will then take on the US on November 1 and the UAE on November 5.
