KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged all parties to exercise restraint, stating that the government is actively working to create an environment conducive to holding the upcoming elections.
The appeal comes as various groups prepare to hold a demonstration after the Chhath festival, which is being celebrated on Monday.
Issuing a statement on Saturday, the ministry said the government is ready to address legitimate concerns and grievances of all parties through dialogue and peaceful means.
“The ministry’s attention has been drawn toward notices of various individuals and groups announcing protests, rallies and demonstrations through social media. After the unrest of September 8 and 9, damaged infrastructure has been rebuilt and law and order restored, helping to create a stable environment for the elections,” the ministry said in the statement. “Since certain interest groups might try to infiltrate these movements to create instability and unrest, the ministry urges organizers to remain vigilant and prevent such activities.”
It added that the government has been working to amend election-related laws, manage necessary resources and engage in talks with political parties and stakeholders as part of its preparations for the elections.
