KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has directed domestic airlines to implement special discounts on airfare for senior citizens.
Issuing a statement, CAN said a meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of CAAN’s Director General, and attended by representatives of the Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) and domestic airlines, agreed to provide up to 80% discounts on air tickets for elderly passengers.
According to the decision, passengers aged 70 and above will receive a 50% discount on government-approved maximum fares across all sectors. Those aged 75 and above will be eligible for a 75% concession, while passengers aged 80 and above will receive an 80% reduction.
CAAN and domestic airlines have also agreed to provide a minimum of 50% discount on air tickets for differently abled passengers.
