UML to hold general convention in Pokhara in December

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to hold its 11th General Convention in Pokhara from December 13 to 15.

The party’s Central Committee on Friday approved Chairperson KP Sharma Oli’s special proposal titled “The Country’s Political Situation and Our Policy” and confirmed Pokhara as the venue for the upcoming convention, said Rajendra Gautam, chief of the party’s Publicity Department.

Gautam added that the meeting concluded that there is no alternative to the reinstatement of the House of Representatives and emphasized the need for cooperation with other parties that support democracy and the constitution to achieve this goal.

“Although the party’s primary focus is on the reinstatement of parliament, the UML is not afraid of the election. We have decided to demand that the government create an environment conducive to elections,” Gautam said.

The interim govenrment formed after the Gen Z protest has decided to hold elections for the House of Representatives on March 5.

The meeting also called for a fair and independent investigation into what it described as infiltration into the Gen Z protests and urged that necessary action be taken against all those involved.
