Nepal defeat Oman by 38 runs, continue undefeated run

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated hosts Oman by 38 runs to register its third straight victory in the Super Six stage of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifier at Al Amerat on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal posted 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing a target of 152, Oman was bowled out for 113 runs as Nepali bowlers continued their impressive performance in the Qualifiers. Gulshan Jha took three wickets for Nepal, givig 31 runs in his 4-over spell. Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami took 2 wickets each, while Sandeep Lamichhane claimed one.

Earlier, opener Kushal Bhurtel top-scored for Nepal with a fluent 69 off 51 balls. He clubbed seven fours and a six.

With this win, Nepal climbed to the top of the table with 8 points, including two points carried over from the group stage, while Oman is second with six points.
Both teams have already secured their spots in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

A win over Samoa on Friday will ensure Nepal finish the Qualifier undefeated.
