Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal
KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has said that needful arrangements must be made to ensure that Nepalis living abroad get to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a program organized at the Election Commission on Thursday, in the context of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, Aryal said relevant technology must be embraced to enable Nepalis abroad to participate in voting and to institutionalize the right to recall elected representatives mid-term.
Aryal, who is also looking after the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs portfolio, said that the primary responsibility of the current government is to conduct free, fair and credible elections.
“Since people have been given the opportunity to choose their representatives through a legitimate process, everyone’s focus should now be on the election,” he added.
