KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife Arzu Rana Deuba, who were severely injured due to an attack by protesters on Tuesday, are undergoing treatment at the Nepal Army Hospital in Chauni.
The couple was attacked inside their Budhanilkantha residence after protesters forced their way in under the pretense of greeting them. Video clips shared on social media platforms showed both of them bloodied and injured.
They were rushed to the hospital with the support of the Nepal Army immediately after the attack.
“The condition of the Deuba couple is out of danger. Both are being treated under the supervision of the Nepal Army,” a military source told Himal Press. “The army is also overseeing treatment for several other injured individuals.”
The army has provided shelter to several political leaders at its headquarters, as well as at its units in Shivapuri and Bhaktapur, among others, and at the offices of the Armed Police Force (APF).
