KATHMANDU: Five inmates were killed and two others injured in a clash at the Juvenile Reform Home in Baijanath Rural Municipality-1, Naubasta of Banke.
According to security sources, the deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Khatri of Dailekh, Samir Thapa of Banke, Umesh Bista of Achham, Jagat Deuba of Kailali and Dinesh Gharti Magar of Dang.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night after a group of inmates attempted to escape.
Two other inmates remain in critical condition. Officials of the juvenile home said that while some detainees managed to escape, others are still inside the facility.
Following the incident, security has been tightened at both the Juvenile Reform Home and the Bheri Hospital premises.
