KATHMANDU: The bourse saw another lackluster session on Wednesday as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed 15.64 points lower at 2,726.33 points.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, hitting an intra-day high of 2,749.89 points on Wednesday, it pared all the gains and eventually ended the session 0.57% lower.
Unit prices of 213 scrips declined during the session, while 39 advanced. Union Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 338.02 million worth of shares traded. Next were Liberty Energy Company Ltd and Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 273.79 million and Rs 261.58 million, respectively.
Despite the loss, total turnover slightly improved Rs 4.72 billion with 11.34 million units traded through 68,594 transactions.
Except for the Mutual Fund and Trading sub-indices, which posted nominal gains, all sectoral indices ended the session in the red. Hotels & Tourism and Hydropower sub-indices fell 0.93% each, while the Development Bank sub-index was down 0.85%.
