KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has said that the Lipulek–Kalapani region belongs to Nepal.
Speaking at a press meet in Birgunj on Monday, Lekhak said affirming Nepal’s ownership of its territory should not harm relations with any country. “There is no reason for our relations with any country to deteriorate when we say our land is ours,” he said. “Our friendly neighbor India should also not be offended, because that land is ours. We are clear on this.”
Lekhak also said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently on a visit to China, did the right thing by expressing objection to the India-China understanding regarding Lipulek during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“We want to state clearly that there is no dispute about this matter. When we say our land is ours, no country should be hurt by it. This is our land, and we will continue to say so,” Lekhak reiterated.
