KATHMANDU: Sharad Ojha has been relieved of his duties as Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority.
A minister told Himal Press that the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday night decided to remove Ojha from the position.
Questions had been raised regarding his qualifications. To investigate the matter, the government had formed a probe committee under former High Court judge Krishna Giri. The committee submitted its report to the government on Sunday.
Ojha had been appointed as the chairperson of the country’s insurance regulatory body on February 24. A journalist by profession, questions had been raised about his qualifications right after he was shortlisted for the position.
