Nepse gains 9.16 points; turnover drops to Rs 6.17 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a gain of 9.16 points, closing trading at 2,770.39 points on Monday.

Although the benchmark index fell to an intra-day low of 2,756.31 points within an hour into trading, it recovered and hit an intra-day high of 2,779.69 points. While the index pared some gains, it still ended the session 0.33% higher.

Despite the gain, total turnover fell to Rs 6.17 billion with 15.22 million units traded through 67,959 transactions on Monday.

Unit prices of 175 scrips went up during the session, while 74 declined. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd led the turnover chart with Rs 217.52 million worth of shares traded. Next were Butwal Power Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development with turnovers of Rs 209.59 million and Rs 187.54 million, respectively.

Except for the Mutual Fund and Others sub-indices, which posted nominal losses, all trading groups ended the session in green territory. The Trading sub-index posted the biggest gain of 1.29%. Hydropower and Manufacturing & Processing followed with gains of 0.97% and 0.49%, respectively.
