KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed the last trading day of the week with a modest gain of 2.62 points at 2,788.36 points.
This marked the first uptick for the bourse this week. Overall, the market shed 62.01 points this week.
Out of the total listed companies, 108 saw their share prices advance, while 141 recorded declines on Thursday. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 471.71 million worth of shares traded. NRN Infrastructure & Development and Balephi Hydropower Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 417.71 million and Rs 368.41 million.
Market turnover showed a slight improvement and Rs 7.46 billion on Thursday as 19.25 million units changed hands through 76,542 transactions.
Among sectoral indices, five posted gains while eight closed in the red. The ‘Others’ sub-index recorded the highest gain of 1.8%, whereas the Banking sub-index suffered the largest decline of 0.55%.
