SC dismisses Mukul’s petition Mukul Dhakal

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed by former General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dr Mukul Dhakal, seeking reinstatement to his position.

A division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel rejected Dhakal’s writ petition and issued a directive order to the party.

Dhakal had sought the apex court’s intervention after the Election Commission Nepal, on July 18 last year, issued a letter confirming that he is the general secretary. He filed the writ petition a week later.

Although the party had taken disciplinary action against Dhakal, the Election Commission has yet to update the changes in RSP’s office bearers.

Dhakal was expelled from the party on July 10, 2024, on charges of engaging in activities against the party’s interests.

Following his expulsion, Dhakal had claimed that he was removed from “Ravi’s Club”.
