KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) shed 26.22 points and closed trading at 2,796.24 points on Sunday.
With this, the benchmark index fell below the 2,800-point threshold for the first time since July 16, when the market closed at 2,794.78.
Unit prices of 225 scrips declined during the session, while 24 advanced and one remained unchanged. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 267.75 million worth of shares traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Lumbini Bikas Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 239.68 million and Rs 202.64 million, respectively.
Turnover fell by nearly Rs 4 billion to Rs 6.91 billion with 17.67 million units traded through 78,226 transactions.
Except for the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which ended the session 1.32% higher, all sectoral indices closed lower on Tuesday. The largest loss was incurred by the Finance sub-index, which declined by 1.53%. Micfrofinance and Hydropower sub-indices followed with losses of 1.49% and 1.26%, respectively.
