Members will get two days to read report on School Education Bill: Thapa Education, Health and Information Technology Committee Chairperson Ammar Bahadur Thapa

KATHMANDU: The report on the School Education Bill, 2024, which was passed by the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives on August 7, has reached its final drafting stage.

The committee has decided to give members two days to review the document.

Committee Chairperson Ammar Bahadur Thapa told Himal Press that they were preparing to give members two days to correct linguistic or factual errors in the report. “We need to check what is included and what has been left out. Linguistic errors will be reviewed in these two days. Then the committee will discuss all these in a meeting,” Thapa said.

Members can also submit suggestions for necessary amendments during this period, according to Thapa.

The report will then be endorsed by the committee.

Thapa said the committee plans to present the report to the House of Representatives in the ongoing session.

Responding to a query on whether the report would include provisions related to temporary teachers and private schools, similar to how the Federal Civil Service Bill report incorporated the “cooling-off period” provision, Thapa said that the possibility does not exist. “This is why we are giving members time to read the report. Members should read it thoroughly; after all, it will bear everyone’s signatures,” he said.
