KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to launch a campaign to draw the government’s attention toward ensuring voting rights for Nepali citizens living abroad.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, a meeting of the party’s Central Committee held on Friday decided to press the government and concerned authorities to take serious steps toward granting such rights.

The meeting also concluded that the charges against party president Rabi Lamichhane were politically motivated and decided to make the ongoing nationwide signature campaign in his defense more effective.

“The Central Committee has decided to take this campaign forward alongside all organizational expansion activities of the party,” Jha added.

The meeting also decided to reinstate founding Central Committee member Ishramulla Miya, who had resigned from the Central Committee upon his appointment as Chairperson of the Central Hajj Committee, to his former role.
