KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) returned to winning ways on the last trading day of the week after two days of losses, closing trading 18.3 points higher at 2,850.37 points on Thursday.
The bourse saw a volatile session, paring early gains before hitting an intra-day high of 2,861.28 points. The index eventually ended the session 0.64% higher.
The unit prices of 187 scrips increased during the session, while 62 declined. Liberty Energy Company posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 390.12 million worth of shares traded. Shivam Cement and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 369.38 million and Rs 232.87 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved slightly to Rs 8.53 billion with 25.40 million units traded through 95,839 transactions.
All sectoral indices ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 1.38%. Manufacturing & Processing and Others sub-indices were next with gains of 1.12% and 1.02%, respectively.
