KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a man who had been at large after allegedly killing his elder brother during a family dispute, while he was trying to flee to India.
According to the District Police Office, Siraha, Shyam Kumar Sada (25) of Musaharniya in Golbajar Municipality-10 of Siraha, allegedly used a sharp weapon to kill his own brother, Motiram Sada (35) on Thursday evening.
Police say Shyam Kumar began assaulting his wife, Kahushila Sad, under the influence of alcohol on Thursday night. When his brother Motiram intervened to stop him, Shyam Kumar reportedly stabbed him in the chest with a sharp weapon. Motiram succumbed to injuries at Provincial Hospital, Lahan.
Shyam Kumar was arrested while attempting to flee to India via the Jamuwa canal in Auraha-3, approximately three kilometers from the Nepal-India border.
Police say Shyam Kumar has confessed to the crime.
