Nepse extends gains to eight session; Rs 18.49 billion of shares traded

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a nominal gain of 3.76 points, closing trading at 1,982.64 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.

Although the secondary market underwent a volatile session on the day, the benchmark index continued its gaining streak for an eighth straight session.  Nepse has gained 256.93 points over the period.

Unit prices of 127 scrips fell during the session, while 123 advanced. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 772.14 million traded. Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Green Ventures Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 719.18 million and Rs 662.86 million, respectively.

Total turnover fell slightly to Rs 18.49 billion on Thursday as 38.96 million shares changed hands through 154,642 transactions.

Sectoral indices reported mixed performance during the session. Seven sub-indices ended the session in the red territory, while six posted gains. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 0.76%. On the other hand, the Hydropower sub-index posted the biggest gain of 2%.

Market capitalization, the total worth of listed shares, climbed to a record Rs 4,977.04 billion on Thursday.
