KATHMANDU: Bangladesh humbled Nepal 4-0 in the final double round-robin match of the 2025 SAFF U20 Women’s Championship in Dhaka on Monday to clinch the title.
Mosammat Sagorika, who was returning from a three-match suspension, scored all four goals for the hosts. She had been shown a red card in Bangladesh’s opening match against Nepal, which Bangladesh won 3-2.
Nepal went into the decisive fixture needing a win to lift the title, while Bangladesh required only a draw. Although Nepal had registered commanding wins over Sri Lanka and Bhutan, the other two teams in the championship, earlier in the tournament, it had no answer for Sagorika’s dominance.
Bangladesh, which led Nepal 1-0 at halftime, added three more goals in the second half to seal the emphatic victory.
Sagorika opened the scoring in the 8th minute, beating Nepali goalkeeper Sujata Tamang with a composed finish. She doubled the lead in the 52nd minute and completed her hat-trick six minutes later with a lob from outside the box. She added her fourth in the 78th minute, converting a well-timed pass from Munki Akhter.
