KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has scheduled its Central Committee meeting for Monday.

According to party leader and former minister Mahesh Basnet, the two-day meeting will begin at 11 am at the party headquarters in Chyasal.

The agenda of the meeting includes reviewing preparations for the upcoming Statute Convention set for September 5–7, and holding discussions on the proposed statute amendments and strategies to strengthen party organization.

The meeting will also deliberate on the statute amendment proposal already approved by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo.

The proposal recommends removing the current two-term limit and age cap of 70 years for office-bearers across all party committees.

It also suggests restructuring the party into a three-tier system—comprising the Standing Committee, Politburo, and Central Committee, and resizing the Central Committee to 251 members.
