KATHMANDU: A total of 120 Nepalis imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for various offenses have been granted amnesty.
The UAE government pardoned the remaining sentences of these individuals on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a major festival observed by followers of Islam.
Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi expressed its gratitude to the UAE government for the pardon.
UAE is one of the most attractive foreign employment destinations for Nepali workers. More than 700,000 Nepalis are estimated to be employed in the Gulf nation.
