No UML without KP Oli, Oli tells party workers

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that efforts to envision a UML party without him are part of a reactionary conspiracy.

Addressing a district-level gathering of party workers in Jhapa, Oli said the wishes of those hoping for a UML without KP Oli would never come true.

“The desire for a country without UML or a UML without KP Oli will not be fulfilled. UML is not a party driven by petty interests. It carries the great responsibility of nation-building. This is a party that has emerged from sacrifice for national interest,” Oli said. “Those weaving conspiracies against UML will not succeed.”

He also advised party workers not to fall for misleading propaganda against the party. “KP Oli and UML do not engage in corruption. We are not like those parties that launch signature campaigns in their defense after being caught embezzling cooperative funds and facing legal action,” Oli said, referring to the ongoing signature campaign of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Oli also urged party leaders and cadres to remain alert to internal and external conspiracies and to stand firmly with the correct policies and leadership. “While certain self-serving leaders who had long held responsibilities and benefits within the party tried in the past to split and destroy this party, the party workers and the people safeguarded UML and helped it rise again as a national force,” Oli said.

Oli also argued that if UML cannot build the country, no one else can.

“Nepal’s international image has become more visible and recognized in recent months,” Oli said. “But opposition forces unwilling to acknowledge the success of my recent visit to Spain have launched a smear campaign by using Young Communist League (the youth wing of CPN (Maoist Center), falsely claiming that individuals were left behind during the trip.”
