KATHMANDU: The Consulate General of Nepal in New York, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New York Chapter, organized an ‘Interaction and Networking Event’ in New York on Friday to promote Nepal as a prime travel destination for American tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Dadhiram Bhandari highlighted the growing role of US visitors in Nepal’s tourism industry. He underscored the need to market the country’s natural and cultural richness to attract high-end travelers.
Similarly, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, called for collective efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism.
Also speaking on the occasion, travel writer Erin Levi, whose article on Nepal’s Burhan Wilderness Camp was featured in TIME’s “World’s Greatest Places of 2024”, praised Nepal as one of the safest destinations for travelers of all ages.
Entrepreneur Nishchal Banskota introduced the concept of “Immersive Tea Tourism”, explaining how his Nepal Tea Collective has been bringing American groups to tea estates in eastern Nepal.
Elizabeth Chin, executive director of PATA New York Chapter, encouraged participants to promote Nepal among US travelers.
Over 50 participants from New York’s travel, tourism and hospitality sectors attended the event, according to a statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board.
On the occasion, the Nepali consulate served traditional Nepali cuisine to the participants.
