KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has taken disciplinary action against several leaders and cadres for allegedly working against the party’s official candidates during the 2022 general elections.
According to the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, actions were taken against leaders and cadres who failed to provide satisfactory explanations in response to complaints filed against them.
Anand Prasad Dhungana, the coordinator of the committee, said those penalized include former provincial ministers, provincial general secretaries, district presidents, as well as Mahasamiti members.
Former Minister of Gandaki Province Government Kumar Khadka, General Secretary of Lumbini Province Committee Bikram Khanal, President of Khotang District Committee Bishnu Kumar Rai and President of Parsa Constituency-1 Committee Arvind Kumar Gupta have been expelled from the party for one year. They were found guilty of not supporting the official candidates of the party in the 2022 general election.
Disciplinary action was taken against the leaders and cadres for allegedly working against the party’s official candidates during the 2022 general elections.
According to Dhungana, Anand Yadav, the president of the NC’s Lakshminiya Rural Municipality Committee of Dhanusha, has been expelled for six months. Likewise, the committee has suspended the President of Sabaila Municipality Committee Khataru Yadav, the President of Mukhiya Patti Musaharniya Rural Municipality Committee Phulgen Yadav and Ram Babu Yadav of Dhanushadham Municipality-1 of Dhanusha for six months.
Also facing six-month suspensions are Joint Secretary of Kaski-2 Committee Bhavana Shrestha, General Convention Representative from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Ward-2 Bhim Bahadur Shah, Former Secretary of Kailali District Committee Purna Kumar Kunwar, Former Mahasamiti Member from Dhangadhi-1 Anand Raj Joshi, Constituency Convention Representative of Dhangadhi-2 Rabindra Pratap Singh, Active Members Lekhraj Ojha and Subash Chand, and former General Convention Representative from Dhangadhi-5 Bablu Kumar Chuahdary.
Similarly, the former President of Kaski District Committee, Krishna KC, has been suspended for three months.
