Nepse snaps six-day gaining streak, closes 21.6 points lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped its six-day winning streak on Monday, closing 21.60 points lower at 2,684.76.

Market analysts have described the drop as a natural correction following six consecutive sessions of gains.

Unit prices of 209 scrips declined while only 39 advanced during the session. Nepal Insurance Company Ltd recorded the highest turnover on Monday, with shares worth Rs 807.05 million traded. Guardian Micro Life Insurance Company and NRN Infrastructure and Development were next with turnovers of Rs 417.12 million and Rs 241.7 million, respectively.

Except for Hotels & Tourism and Mutual Funds, which posted marginal gains, all trading sub-indices ended the day in negative territory. The Finance sub-index suffered the steepest loss of 3.76%, followed by Trading and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, which were down by 1.25% and 1.24%, respectively.

Total market turnover fell slightly to Rs 8.37 billion with 19.41 million shares traded across 71,313 transactions.
