KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day losing run on Sunday, closing 30.09 points higher at 2,625.84 points.
This marked the biggest single-day gain on the bourse since May 20, when the index surged by 49.09 points.
Despite the bullish close, market turnover declined to Rs 7.12 billion, with 16.64 million units changing hands through 74,752 transactions.
A total of 185 scrips posted gains during the session, while 63 declined. Sahas Urja Ltd led the turnover chart with Rs 578.68 million worth of shares traded. Butwal Power Company Ltd and Union Hydropower Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 349.96 million and Rs 243.38 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in positive territory except Manufacturing & Processing, which posted a marginal loss of 0.56%. The Banking sub-index led the rally with a 2% gain, followed by Development Banks and Microfinance, up 1.61% and 1.58%, respectively.
The session reflected renewed investor confidence, particularly in the financial sector, after days of subdued sentiment.
